Under the patronage of the Dean of Thi-Qar Technical College, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tukan Abdullah, the college organized a workshop entitled “The Electronic Scientific Promotion System in Iraqi Universities.”
The workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohsen Abdullah Al-Shammari, Director of the Scientific Promotions Division at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Khuwam Risan Hussein, Dean of the Technical Institute of Thi-Qar, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tukan Abdullah, Dean of Thi-Qar Technical College, Prof. Dr. Shawqi Khalaf Mohammed, Assistant Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Talib Hashem, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, along with a distinguished group of faculty members and staff.
The workshop aimed to introduce the electronic scientific promotion system, explain its mechanisms of use in Iraqi universities, and clarify ways of addressing key observations and challenges that academic staff may face during promotion applications. It also sought to enhance knowledge of the system’s main steps, contributing to the development of academic processes while ensuring transparency and accuracy in handling scientific promotion transactions.
The workshop covered several key themes, including an introduction to the promotion system, the presentation of main observations and recommendations, and the discussion of core topics related to the workflow. A Q&A session was also held, allowing participants to raise inquiries and share their perspectives.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the Dean honored Prof. Dr. Mohsen Abdullah Al-Shammari in appreciation of his contributions. Emphasis was placed on the importance of this system in keeping pace with digital transformation and streamlining scientific promotion procedures, thereby enhancing the quality of higher education in Iraq.
Following the workshop, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Abdullah Al-Shammari, accompanied by the Dean, conducted a field tour of the scientific departments at the college, during which he reviewed the available infrastructure and resources. He commended the efforts made to improve the educational and academic environment.
