The Dean of Thi-Qar Technical College, Prof. Dr. Hussein Twkan Abdullah, participated in the first regular session of the Southern Technical University Council for the 2025–2026 academic year, held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, President of the Southern Technical University, at the Al-Amarah Technical Institute, with the attendance of the scientific and administrative assistants, the deans of affiliated institutions, and several university officials.
The University President opened the session by welcoming the council members and guests, expressing his appreciation for their presence and participation, and extending his gratitude to the administration of the Al-Amarah Technical Institute for their warm hospitality and excellent organization.
He also offered his congratulations on the start of the new academic year, wishing everyone continued success in fulfilling their academic and administrative responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of promptly implementing the recommendations of the Ministry of Higher Education, particularly regarding digital transformation, which serves as a cornerstone for advancing the educational process and keeping pace with global developments.
The session included discussions on several important agenda items, most notably:
• Approval of the second-round examination results for undergraduate studies for the 2024–2025 academic year.
• The Southern Technical University Strategic Plan (2026–2030).
• Mechanism for full-time research engagement within Iraq.
• Delegation of authority to university councils to issue official documents with grades for government institutions in special cases.
• Approval of the vision, mission, and objectives of the Basra Medical Technical Institute and the Internal Audit and Control Department at the university.
• Discussion of Thi-Qar Technical College’s proposal to organize the National Conference on Digital Transformation under the theme “Opportunities and Challenges Toward the Future”, scheduled to be held on October 23, 2025, at the Ziggurat of Ur in Dhi Qar Governorate.
• Discussion on reinstating students whose enrollments were previously terminated, to both morning and evening classes, across several university institutions — including the Al-Amarah Technical Institute, Basra Administrative Technical Institute, Basra Engineering Technical College, Thi-Qar Technical College, Al-Shatra Technical College, and Maysan Engineering College.
This session reflects the commitment of the Southern Technical University Presidency to organize academic and administrative work, enhance institutional performance, align with the Ministry’s strategic plans, and advance the quality of technical education in Iraq.
