Thi-Qar Technical College Organizes an Educational Seminar on “Combating Drugs”

The Women’s Affairs Unit at Thi-Qar Technical College, in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Unit and the Community Police Department, organized an educational seminar titled “Combating Drugs”. The event was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Talib Hashim, along with a number of faculty members and students.

The seminar was conducted by the Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, Mrs. Iman Kareem Hussein. It aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and their social, psychological, and health impacts, while highlighting the role of security agencies and educational institutions in preventing and combating this serious problem. The session also sought to educate students on healthy behaviors that protect them from addiction and to encourage them to promote awareness among their peers and within the community.

The seminar featured lectures by Major Ahmed Majid Kamel, Director of the Community Police Department; Colonel Abbas Youssef, Director of the Media Department of the Thi-Qar Police Command; Senior Translator and Head of the Studies and Research Unit A’id Khalaf Daikh; and Sergeant Inas Maktoof Jassim, Head of the Women’s Division in the Community Police Department.

The event included an awareness presentation and an open discussion with students addressing the main causes of drug use and methods of prevention, as well as outlining the governmental and community efforts made to combat it.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants emphasized the importance of cooperation among families, universities, and security agencies to promote a culture of awareness and strengthen psychological and intellectual resilience among youth.
