Thi-Qar Technical College Holds the National Conference on Digital Transformation Under the Patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

Thi-Qar Technical College held today, Thursday, October 23, 2025, the National Conference on Digital Transformation under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of a distinguished group of academic, administrative, and security figures. The conference took place in the main hall of the Ur Tourist City.

The event opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the playing of the national anthem and a reading of Al-Fatiha in memory of Iraq’s martyrs.

Next, the President of the Southern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, delivered a welcoming speech in which he greeted the conference guests and affirmed the university’s and its presidency’s support for Thi-Qar Technical College and all scientific efforts contributing to the advancement of higher education.

The First Deputy Governor of Thi-Qar, Mr. Razaq Kshish, then gave a welcoming address, praising the college’s efforts in organizing this national event and highlighting the significance of holding it in the ancient city of Ur.

Afterwards, the scientific sessions of the conference began.

The keynote speaker was Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahid, the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, who delivered an insightful lecture outlining the future vision for digital transformation in Iraqi universities. He reviewed the Ministry’s strategic plan for implementing this vision in alignment with global technological developments.

Also speaking at the conference was Dr. Saad Maan, Head of the Security Media Cell at the Ministry of Interior, who presented the Ministry’s perspective and plans regarding digital transformation and emphasized the importance of inter-institutional coordination to achieve comprehensive transformation.

The conference was attended by prominent academic figures, including Prof. Dr. Shafiq Al-Mulla, Head of the Scientific Research Authority; Prof. Dr. Haider Marhoon, President of Al-Ain University; and Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Laibi, President of Al-Wataniya University, along with assistant university presidents and college deans from various provinces.

The event also saw the attendance of the First Deputy Governor of Thi-Qar, Mr. Razaq Kshish, several local security leaders, and university professors who praised the organization of the conference and the valuable scientific insights and practical initiatives presented, which contribute to advancing digital transformation within Iraq’s higher education institutions.

Participants affirmed that holding the conference in Ur Tourist City carries symbolic significance, merging Iraq’s rich civilizational heritage with the spirit of modern technological progress, thereby reinforcing Thi-Qar’s position as a national hub for knowledge and innovation.
