The Dean of Thi Qar Technical College Participates in the “Heritage in the Marshes” Festival: Empowering Local Communities through Handicrafts and Heritage Digitization

The Dean of Thi Qar Technical College, Professor Dr. Hussein Toukan Abdullah, participated in the activities of the “Heritage in the Marshes: Empowering Local Communities through Handicrafts and Heritage Digitization” Festival, organized by University of Thi-Qar in cooperation with Al-Chibayish Organization for Ecotourism.

This participation comes as part of the activities of the UNESCO Chair at University of Thi-Qar and within ongoing efforts aimed at preserving cultural heritage and promoting sustainable development by highlighting handicrafts and the role of digitization in documenting the cultural heritage of the Marshes region.

For his part, the Dean praised the outstanding organizational efforts behind the festival, emphasizing Thi Qar Technical College’s commitment to participating in scientific and community events that combine academic engagement with community service. He also noted that empowering local communities and supporting sustainable development goals in the province represent a fundamental pillar of the college’s vision and priorities.

The event concluded with a tour showcasing the most prominent heritage works and handmade exhibits that reflected the authenticity of the Marshes and the richness of their cultural heritage, amid widespread praise for the high level of organization and the active participation of the various supporting entities that contributed to the success of this distinguished event.
