The Southern Technical University, chaired by the University President, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, held today, Wednesday, September 3, 2025, its twelfth meeting for the current month of September, with the participation of college deans and department representatives. The Technical College of Dhi Qar was represented by its Dean, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tuqan Abdullah.
The meeting addressed surveys related to university policies presented by the Computer Center and the Registration and Student Affairs Department. It also discussed a memorandum from the Graduate Studies Department regarding the university’s need for teaching staff up to the year 2029. The meeting approved the establishment of a Master’s program in the Department of Electromechanical Systems Technologies at the Technical College of Dhi Qar, as well as the launch of a scientific journal at the college to support research activities.
The meeting also included the reinstatement of students whose enrollment had been canceled, allowing their return to studies in both morning and evening programs. This decision benefited 33 students. Additionally, approval was granted to open a consultancy office at the college to strengthen engagement with the local community and provide technical and scientific consultations.
The University President, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, emphasized the importance of regular university council meetings to monitor academic and administrative development plans, stressing the need to enhance cooperation among colleges and ensure a suitable educational environment for students.
For his part, the Dean of the Technical College of Dhi Qar, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tuqan Abdullah, affirmed the college’s commitment to actively contributing to university meetings in ways that support scientific and research projects while addressing the needs of both students and the community.
