Thi-Qar Technical College Launches Tree-Planting Week to Promote a Culture of Sustainability

Thi-Qar Technical College has launched the activities of Tree-Planting Week with wide participation from faculty members and heads of scientific departments, as part of the college’s efforts to enhance green cover and foster a culture of environmental sustainability within the campus.

The initiative featured the planting of various types of trees and plants across the college’s gardens and corridors, within a work plan aimed at expanding green spaces and improving the environmental landscape in line with the Southern Technical University’s directions to support environmental and community initiatives.

The launch of the campaign was attended by the Dean of Thi-Qar Technical College, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tukan Abdullah, the Assistant Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Shawqi Khalaf Mohammed, and the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Talib Hashem. The campaign was organized and implemented with the support of the Student Activities Unit and the Department of Cybersecurity Engineering. All participants stressed the importance of this initiative in instilling values of social responsibility and raising students’ awareness about the significance of afforestation and combating desertification.

The Dean commended the cooperation of the teaching and administrative staff in making the campaign a success, calling for the continuation of such initiatives that contribute to creating a clean and sustainable university environment.
