Under the patronage of the Dean of Thi-Qar Technical College, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tukan Abdullah, and in view of the importance of developing students’ skills in public speaking and oratory, the college, under the direct supervision of the Student Activities Division, organized a developmental course entitled “The Art of Public Speaking and Oratory” on Sunday, August 10, 2025. The course targeted college students with the aim of enhancing communication skills and the ability to speak before an audience.

The organization of this course was based on the directive of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which emphasizes the need to strengthen students’ skills during their university studies.

The course was delivered by Ms. Iman Kareem Hussein from the Legal Affairs Division and Mr. Hassan Tarsh Tagi from the Student Activities Division. Its topics included the fundamentals of effective speech delivery, techniques of addressing an audience, training on voice control and body language, as well as boosting self-confidence while speaking in front of others.

The event was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Shawqi Khalaf Mohammed, the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Talib Hashem, along with several staff members and students of the college.

The course also included practical exercises and interactive discussions aimed at reinforcing theoretical concepts and applying them in practice. In his address, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tukan Abdullah, emphasized the importance of equipping students with public speaking and oratory skills, considering them essential abilities that contribute to their academic and professional success in the future.
