In a significant step that strengthens the Southern Technical University’s journey toward excellence and keeping pace with global scientific developments, the University President, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, inaugurated today, Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the Department of Cybersecurity Engineering Technologies at the Technical College of Dhi Qar, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Hussein Tuqan Abdullah, the Associate Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Shouqi Khalaf Mohammed, and the Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Talib Hashem.
The establishment of this department comes in response to the growing demand in the labor market for cybersecurity and data protection specializations. It aims to prepare qualified professionals with advanced technical skills capable of addressing digital challenges and ensuring information security.
During the inauguration, the University President affirmed that the creation of this department represents an important addition to both the university and the college, as well as a strategic step toward preparing a generation of engineers capable of serving the community and state institutions efficiently in the digital era.
For his part, the Dean of the Technical College of Dhi Qar explained that the new department will serve as a leading academic and research platform in the field of cybersecurity, through which the college seeks to enhance students’ competencies and equip them with up-to-date knowledge in line with the requirements of the local and regional labor market.
