Under the patronage of the Dean of Thi Qar Technical College, Professor Dr. Hussein Tukan Abdullah, the Human Rights Unit organized a memorial vigil to commemorate the National Day of Mass Graves, with active participation from department heads, academic and administrative staff, and a number of college students.
The vigil featured the display of photographs and slogans bearing the themes “We Will Not Forget” and “Justice Begins with Remembering,” expressing loyalty to the sacrifices of the victims of mass graves and recalling that painful chapter in Iraq’s history.
During the event, the Dean emphasized that commemorating this occasion represents a message of loyalty and an enduring tribute to the blood of the martyrs. He affirmed that the college administration is committed to strengthening national memory among students and fostering pride in the sacrifices that paved the way to freedom, so that these tragedies remain lessons in resilience and national unity, preventing the recurrence of the darkness of the past.
The event also included the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in prayer for the souls of the martyrs, in an atmosphere marked by pride in their sacrifices and a commitment to humanitarian and national values.
