Faculty Member from Thi Qar Technical College – Southern Technical University Publishes a Scientific Research in Cybersecurity and Digital Banking Finance

Dr. Ahmed Abbas Jasim Al-Hujaimi, a faculty member in the Department of Cybersecurity Engineering Technologies at Thi Qar Technical College / Southern Technical University, has published a scientific research paper in the journal Engineering Reports, issued by the international publisher Wiley and ranked in the first quartile (Q1) in both Scopus and Clarivate databases.

The research is entitled:
“Explainable AI With Imbalanced Learning Strategies for Blockchain Transaction Fraud Detection.”

This study falls within the field of digital banking finance (FinTech), as it addresses the security of financial transactions on blockchain networks using Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). The research aims to detect fraud in digital banking systems with high accuracy while providing clear interpretations of intelligent model decisions, thereby enhancing trust and transparency in modern electronic financial environments.

The research includes the application of advanced algorithms such as XGBoost, LightGBM, and Decision Tree, supported by data imbalance handling techniques including SMOTE and ADASYN, in addition to employing the SHAP tool to identify the most influential factors in fraud detection decisions.

This achievement represents a significant scientific contribution to the field of Financial Cybersecurity and reflects the advanced research standing of the Southern Technical University in keeping pace with global developments in intelligent financial technologies.
